1. WHY SHOULD I VISIT ARCHER CITY? WHAT IS THERE TO DO?
Well, most importantly, THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE ARCHER CITY! For starters, you can come to The Royal
Theater, a year round entertainment venue and Performing Arts Center! There are 3-4 live stage productions a year, six Texasville Opry shows and eight Late Week Lazyboy Supper Clubs each season.
Love to read? Booked Up, Inc, owned by Larry McMurtry, world renowned author, is one of the world's largest antiquarian bookstores has over 300,000 books! While you're here, you can relax at two wonderful Bed and Breakfast facilities: The Lonesome Dove Inn (940-574-2700) and The Spur Hotel (940-574-2501). And don't
forget...two major motion pictures, one an Oscar winner was filmed here! There are plenty of hunting and fishing
opportunites galore. Play on a fantastic nine hole golf course, or our unique 18 hole minature golf course. Come
for either a week long or a weekend visit and enjoy true Texas and Southern hospitality and peace and quite not
found in big city life. We also have a few unique stores to shop at. Like history?....Mosey on over to the Archer

2. WHY IS ARCHER CITY A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE?
Archer City is 25 miles from a Wichita Falls, Tx with its 100,000 plus population, so it is a quick 30 minute trip to
big city shopping, entertainment, dining and more not found in our fair city. We have an Advanced Life Support Ambulance Service, a top notch medical clinic, our own police department and an outstanding school system. Taxes and the cost of living are low, and in addition, there are great Churches, friendly people and all of the benefits of small town living!
3. HOW GOOD IS THE SCHOOL SYSTEM?
You won't find a better school system! The I.S.D. has won several Exemplary awards and the students receive a high quality education with some of the state's best teachers and, undoubtedly, the finest Class A facility in Texas. All of the sports programs are highly competitive with state championships won in Football, Boy's Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Baseball, and Girl's Softball. Academics, Sports, Music, the Arts and more...all at Archer City I.S.D. - home of the WILDCATS!
4. DOES LARRY MCMURTRY LIVE IN ARCHER CITY AND CAN I GET AUTOGRAPHED BOOKS FROM HIM?
Mr. McMurtry does maintain a private home and a business, Booked Up, Inc. in Archer City. Mr. McMurtry's schedule takes him in and out of Archer City and the Book store and, there is no set schedule for him to be in town. There is no guarantee you will see him when you come to visit, and we are unable to arrange a meeting with him as

5. IS THERE A CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN ARCHER CITY? WHERE DO I GET SIGNIFICANT INFORMATION ABOUT ARCHER CITY?

6. HOW GOOD ARE THE SHOWS AT THE ROYAL THEATER?:
The Artistic Committee and Producers for all of the shows and productions at the Royal have maintained an unbelievably high quality of standards since beginning operations out of the theater in August 1993. The Royal has
fast become one of the state's top entertainment values and a firstrate performing arts center.
The LATEWEEK LAZYBOY SUPPER CLUB has maintained a sellout or near sellout season for eleven seasons with some of the best Texas, Red Dirt, Americanna songwriters and performers in the Country. Performers who have appeared at the Royal for The Supper Club include PAT GREEN, JACK INGRAM, JAMES MCMURTRY, BRIAN
BURNS, SONNY THROCKMORTON, RAY WYLIE HUBBARD, LARRY JOE TAYLOR, CHRIS WALL and many others.
THE TEXASVILLE OPRY has developed into the best Opry in North Central Texas and Oklahoma. It features
the area's top singers performing Classic and Traditional Country and Western, Gospel, Golden Oldies Rock and Roll, BlueGrass, and Cowboy campfire music backed by our live house band, "The Pride of Texas." The Christmas Show and Rock 'n' Roll Golden Oldies shows are always sold out and the remainder either are, or close to sell outs.
The live STAGE SEASON is second to none for quality and overall satisfaction. The four show season runs
each calendar year and features an all-purpose production or a Thriller-Mystery in the fall.
In February, there is a special Valentine's Dinner Show that features a Murder Mystery, a Romantic Comedy or The Picture Show Players Follies, a variety and comedy revue. In the spring, there is usally a Drama or a show suited
for a more adult oriented audience. The season ends with the annual Summer Musical or Family Comedy.
